Moksha Yoga
When Moksha Yoga cofounder Ted Grand created the sequence of postures that make up his studio’s yoga classes, he drew from more than 1,000 hours of yoga training and from the expertise of other seasoned professionals in the field. His order of Moksha postures—a beginning savansa, intention setting, a standing series, a floor series, and a final savasana—are only part of what makes Moksha yoga unique among yoga styles. Its practitioners are also encouraged to follow its 7 pillars, a set of philosophies that includes living green and supporting the local community. In that vein, the eco-friendly studio sports a sustainable cork floor, VOC-free paints, and stays tidy with plant-based cleaning products.
Moksha Yoga sets a philanthropic example for its students by offering a donation-only class each week from which the proceeds go to charity, as well as a Trade for Yoga, program that offers unlimited yoga classes in exchange for volunteer work inside the studio. To help promote the overall wellness aspect of the 7 Pillars, therapists are also available to perform massages and acupuncture.
