Climbing walls, like greenhouses and camping in a basement, bring the thrill of the great outdoors inside. Reach new heights with today's Groupon: for $25, you get an indoor rock-climbing package at Momentum Indoor Climbing in Sandy (a $59 value). The climbing package includes:
- Two weeks of unlimited climbing with gear provided
- An Intro to Climbing group class
- An Intro to Bouldering group class
The faux mountain faces at Momentum Indoor Climbing challenge indoor alpinists of all skill levels and slink throughout a sprawling, 20,000-square-foot facility. Suited up in climbing gear and a jacket of adrenaline, climbers grab color-coded grips while navigating lead and top-rope routes more than 40 feet long. A 45-degree angled wall juts out from a separate bouldering area, where cushy foam padding waits to catch adventurous scalers and loose change falling from their pockets. Over the course of two weeks, indoor mountaineers can also master 13 cracks designed to imitate the natural crevices and patient temperaments of desert rocks.
Students bolster their wall-conquering skills in 90-minute group Intro to Climbing and Intro to Bouldering classes, beginning at noon on alternating Saturdays. Experienced instructors bestow their knowledge upon students as they teach the basics of each topic. To keep sessions relaxed and baby-free, on-site daycare entertains tots while their parents train for competitions against mountain goats.
Momentum Indoor Climbing
Momentum owns and operates next generation climbing gyms in the Salt Lake area along the majestic Wasatch Front. Momentum are known for wall designs and climber training innovation. Momentum direct connection to America’s sport climbing roots allows Momentum to communicate climbing to new generations. All Momentum gyms offer programs, training tools and terrain to meet the needs of every climber, from first time walk-in to elite climber athlete. Momentum know that clients will meet new friends and climbing partners, whether it’s swapping belays or bouldering beta, climber to climber.
The Lehi location of Momentum Indoor Climbing, the newest gym in the group, focuses entirely on bouldering and boasts nearly 10,000 square feet of climbing terrain. And its 13-foot-tall top out boulder replicates the feeling of scrambling up real boulders found outside in nature. Because bouldering is performed without ropes, harnesses, or duct tape, the structures at Momentum are surrounded by a thick pad to cushion any falls.
Momentum's staff offers instruction for complete novices, and a kids' bouldering wall ensures youths tackle age-appropriate challenges.
