Momiji's signature dish is ramen, but don't expect the salty, microwaved stuff popular with college students. The ramen here is as authentic as it comes, with fresh ingredients like udon noodles, mushrooms, and soft-boiled eggs simmering in one of 10 varieties of chicken- or pork-based broth. Vegetarian versions, meanwhile, are prepared using a savory kelp and mushroom base, and customers can customize their steaming bowl by giving it a name and picking and choosing from a list of 14 vegetable and meat toppings. Beyond the comforting soups, chefs here whip up a list of mostly seafood-based small plates, including deep-fried octopus or Japanese whiting fish, as well as a number of donburi, or rice bowls, topped with proteins like Japanese fried chicken and braised pork belly.
