Q:

I had weight loss surgery 2.5 years ago. I have maintained my weight until recently (since November) when I had surgery and stopped working out regularly. I currently take B12 injections once a month. I am considering this groupon to help me get back on track with a healthy diet and exercise. Can you tell me If I would be a good candidate, and if I should stop my B12 injections prior to the program?

Kelly S.  asked on  Apr 12, 2012

A:

We're sorry we couldn't find an answer to your question! I would suggest contacting Monarch directly at (866) 731-5673 for more information.

Q:

I don't use dairy, soy or gluten products. Will this be a problem in following your weight loss plan?

Ann C.  asked on  Apr 10, 2012

A:

Ann, this will not be a problem. Again, our goal is to have patients use their own grocery store food items. It's always a little challenging with dietary restrictions but that is true regardless if you are on a program or not. Monarch understands that a lot of people have dietary restrictions and needs so we have some great gluten free and soy free snacks for patients to use for snacks as well as snacks that are diabetic friendly. Thank You - Nurse Sherri

Q:

Is the appetite suppressants given to those looking to lose 10 pounds, if other factors (blood pressure, etc) are favorable, or do these prescription meds only get prescribed for those with more to lose?

Bonni R.  asked on  Apr 10, 2012

A:

Bonni, good question. The Oregon Medical Board and the DEA have very tight regulations on this. There are many factors in qualifying for appetite suppressants. Health history, family history, current and previous medications and BMI. Since you only have 10 lbs to lose my guess is that you would not qualify but I don't want to speculate. I for one never qualified for the appetite suppressant and lost 40 pounds without feeling hungry. Hope this helps - thank you, Nurse Sherri

Q:

It states that there is a personalized meal plan and menu guides. Does the personalized meal plan go off of Monarch's nutrition store food or is this food I can buy from a grocery store?

Hollie L.  asked on  Apr 9, 2012

A:

Hollie, our personalized meal plan and menu guides can go off either Monarch's Nutrition Store food or grocery store food - it is totally up to the individual. Thank You - Nurse Sherri

Q:

In addition to the B shots, does Monarch do any HCG shots?

Teresa S.  asked on  Apr 9, 2012

A:

Teresa, we do not do HCG shots here at Monarch. We promote livestyle change through diet and exercise. Anyone can lose weight on 500 calories per day which is what the HCG diet promotes but we want your weight loss to be attainable and sustainable. Thank You, Nurse Sherri

Q:

Good Lord!! Is the actual, full-cost of this program $473 a month?!?! What's the intended and actual average time of participation for men? Do insurance health companies actually participate in this? For how long?

Dan M.  asked on  Apr 9, 2012

A:

Dan, the actual cost of the 1st month of our program is $349 - but this deal includes 5 vitamin B injections, appetite suppressant (if a patient qualifies), a month of vitamins and a $10 nutrition store coupon. We do not bill insurance but we do provide our patients with a superbill - so they can submit it to their insurance company for reimbursement. Also, the $349 is the 1st month cost but every month thereafter is only $99. Men have a tendency to lose weight faster than women due to higher metabolism but average time depends on how much weight a person has to lose. Thank you - Nurse Sherri

Q:

1) What does the body composition analysis include? 2) The regular value of this deal is $473. Which program (Jump Start, New Beginnings) of Monarch's is this? Thank you.

Hollie L.  asked on  Apr 9, 2012

A:

The body composition analysis is having the Nurse or Nurse Practitioner go over the numbers that are printed out from our specialized scale. This includes body fat, muscle, water and BMI. Jumpstart and New Beginnings has really no play in the program cost you purchase through Groupon. Jumpstart simply means you want to solely use Monarch's items for your meal plan while New Beginnings is using some of your own grocery store foods to supplement with Monarch's items. The program you sign up for does not include any nutrition store items (except the coupon you will receive to use) the cost of food is separate because we don't require patients to purchase our foods. Hope this helps. Nurse Sherri

Q:

Are participants required to buy the food in your nutrition store to participate? If so, what is the average price for a week of food? Are participants required to sign up for more than a month even though the Groupon deal is just for a month? Thank you! Roger Givens

Roger G.  asked on  Apr 9, 2012

A:

Roger, participants are not required to buy food from our Nutrition Store. We give you a coupon in the deal so you can sample it. The average price per week will vary depending on a patient's diet structure but usually if a patient is going to use our food to start the cost will ranges from $65 to $80 per week. Participants are not required to sign up for more than a month we do not have people sign contracts. Most people have more than a month's worth of weight to lose and so they stay on as long as they choose. Thank You - Nurse Sherri

Can I participate in teh one month program without spending additional money? I just am needing a jump start to get back on track.

Kelly S.  asked on  Apr 9, 2012

A:

Kelly, you do not have to sign up for more than your 1st month. We do not do contracts at Monarch. We would be happy to help you "Jumpstart" your first month. Nurse Sherri
