Voted a Best of Madison arts group in 2010 by Madison magazine readers, Monkey Business Institute draws on audience suggestions to shape hilarious unscripted scenes throughout its one-hour 6 p.m. shows and two-hour 8 p.m. shows. After taking a seat at an all-ages early show or a some-ages late show (recommended for those 13 and older) at Glass Nickel Pizza Co.’s Madison East location, audience members are asked to shout suggestions or vault onstage to manually steer performers' limbs in Moving Bodies sketches. Monkey Business improvisers, who trained in national groups such as Second City and iO, elicit laughs without props or costumes, relying only on their wits and the spectral guidance of Milton Berle.
