What You'll Get
The traditional method for preparing sushi requires slices of raw fish to be held over unlit fires in order to secure that signature “uncooked” flavor. Explore such innovative foodsmithing with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of sushi, curry, and more at Moonchine Asian Bistro, located in the MiMo Historic District.
Moonchine Asian Bistro's lunch and dinner fare congregates the exquisite dishes and soy-sauce sensations of Vietnamese, Thai, and sushi traditions. Embark on a Southeast Asian gastro-voyage on a pontoon of crab rangoon ($6.95) before exploring the Thai-style Gang Dang red curry ($12.95)—super-charged with bamboo shoots, bell peppers, and coconut milk—or Indochine fried rice ($12.95). Sushi samplers can dabble in a variety of fish-squeezed rolls, such as the Vampire Roll ($9.95), packed with shrimp tempura, tomato, and roasted garlic to exasperate and/or melt Draculas and their ilk. Irrigate a bellyful of Asian cuisine with an appropriate libation, such as the popular Gekkeikan Cap Ace Sake ($9.50) or the Hakutsuru Sake Draft ($8.50). Banana tempura with vanilla ice cream ($6) and the fried Thai doughnut ($6) highlight the coffee and dessert menu, providing after-dinner sweet-tooth appeasement or pre-dinner appetite spoilage.
Located within an art-deco-style building in the architecturally rich MiMo District, visitors can ogle the stylish edifices before settling into Moonchine's funky modern setting. Live music on the weekends and a DJ on Fridays keep sake-sippers tapping their feet, and the garden lounge seating area fosters a healthy romantic atmosphere for bringing your significant other or insignificant plumber.

About Moonchine Asian Bistro
From the moment you walk in, it's clear that Moonchine Asian Bistro is up to far more than pan-Asian eats. High-backed banquettes, jet-black walls, and soft red lighting all give rise to a clubby vibe; after 9 p.m., Moonchine turns into a full-on lounge with the help of dance DJs, bottle service, and even the occasional poetry performance or high-stakes geography bee. Miami New Times hailed Moonchine as "the gem of the Mimo District," advising guests to "arrive around 6 p.m., have a few rolls, and then head to the music lounge to warm up the dancing shoes."
Indoors and in the huge garden area, bartenders keep spirits high by mixing specialty cocktails and recommending bottles of sake from an extensive list. Which isn't to say that food's an afterthought—indeed, chefs have a lot on their plates, so to speak, juggling Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, and Korean culinary traditions. House-made kimchi mingles with creative sushi rolls, classic Thai and Indochinese dishes anchor one large corner of the menu, and there's even an almost-traditional bistro section: mussels, duck, and a "thai burger," each given light Asian accents of their own.
