Creative talents, like houseplants and celebrities, wilt without proper attention. Plump up your skill set with today's Groupon: for $40, you get a one-day fused-glass-making class at Mor Art in Lincoln City (a $95 value).

During Mor Art's daylong, hands-on glass-making classes, experienced staffers equip students with the tools and knowledge necessary to breathe life into their own refractive creations. After pairing with a 10"x10" single sheet of glass, as well as accent materials such as spaghetti glass, each pupil learns how to shape, cut, and fuse the shiny media into colorful, vibrantly explosive baseball shields. An overnight in the kiln's fiery bedchamber solidifies each piece of artwork, which can be picked up in-store, shipped for an additional fee, or delivered express via the studio's catapult. Local artist and glass master Dan Watts offers advice, instruction, and assistance to his students, but the onus lies on each individual to create a masterpiece worthy of shiny mantle display.

MorArt

Local artist and glass master Dan Watts opened the doors of MorArt more than 4 years ago with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that attracted the likes of actress Tippi Hedren of Hitchcock's The Birds fame. After the confetti settled and the balloon outlines of Hitchcock's silhouette popped, Lincoln City was left with a haven for hands-on glass making.

Dan teaches the art of glass fusing during one-on-one sessions or group classes. Equipping students with the tools, materials, and knowledge necessary, he lets them roam free to breathe life into their own refractive creations. Though he remains on-hand for advice, instruction, and assistance, the onus lies on each individual to create a masterpiece worthy of mantel display. Once students finish, Dan fires up his kiln's bedchamber so that each piece can stay and solidify overnight. Masterworks can be shipped for an additional fee, delivered express via the studio's catapult, or picked up from the store along with a few pieces of Dan's original work.

MorArt is a wonderful way to create memories at the Oregon Coast. Maurice is very helpful in bringing your ideas to life. And if you are spending a few days at the coast you can take your artwork home with you. Otherwise it can be shipped to you. My husband & I have to MorArt and created pieces that are now hanging in our home. We have also gifted our daughter and son-in-law with two sessions to MorArt and they can't wait to go back!
