Overall, we enjoyed the experience, but I've been to much cleaner stables with more patient horses at other places. Not saying any of the following were positive or negative, but this was our experience: None of the instructors/employees wore masks. Chicken poop was everywhere including on the benches and tables where we signed the papers. Shelves were provided to store things like hats inside a shed with the helmets. All phones were confiscated from riders while they were on horses and returned dusty because stored in a saddlebag. Cats all around, very friendly. The trail ride was a slow walk through muddy wetlands that eventually lead to the back of a neighborhood and a bunch of blackberry bushes. We recommend long sleeves and pants. We came home with bruises on our legs because the horses would walk so close to the foliage and trees. The riding lesson was informative and the instructors were quick to help riders or guide the horses if needed. The horses are obviously still animals and needed a lot of supervision from the guides. Personally, I didn't think they were ready for beginning riders but who am I to say. Horses were also muddy and dusty.

Avoid this stable/Bonnie. I already know viewing her past responses to expect disregard (please check her yelp reviews to see complaints since 2013). The horses were not well kept and covered in mud, once on the horses they were non-compliant (biting, not following basic instructions), muddy trails, had use ride through the STABLES with wet* hay out which horses ate [UNSAFE] REFUNDED MY 2ND GROUPON

This experience was incredible and without a doubt best bang for your buck !! I would recommend to everyone and they mammas ! I was greeted by the most loving barn cats and chickens . We filled out some paper work and we sprung into action . We were giving helmets and were told everything we needed to know about to horses . I got the pleasure of riding King Arthur and my boyfriend rode Tiki .

1st off, in order to place a reservation I was FORCED to sign up with a Social Network club called MEET UP and it costs me another $5. After I got there, I had to lead the group thru trails I didn't know because horses were acting up with inexperienced riders & 2 trail leaders needed to help them. Spent more time putting people on horses (great job) but trail ride was SO BORING & only 30 mins & all we did was retrace the same BORING route back. Only walked. Then they "suggested" tips at the end...REALLY??? I lead the group...where is my tip? Plus, I brought treats for the horses for everyone. Very disappointed. I'm sorry I had to say that. Horses were beautiful but bored of this same old 30 minute trail over and over again.

Totally unkept property and grounds. After parking you go through a cute door/gate. As you open this cute country gate expecting a beautiful property you get this overwhelming stench of dog poop. At that moment you not only smell it you see it- dog poop everywhere. As you approach the stables it’s another mess with overflowing garbage cans and litter laying all over the ground. Neither the owner or the woman who worked for her had much tolerance for the public. It was agreed by our group that they didn’t enjoy their jobs anymore. I was out on a horse with only a halter- no bridle. They were “put out” when I asked for their reassurance that they hadn’t just forgotten a bridle on him. They were aware he had only a halter on and that’s fine- they know their horses but they then started warning us of bolting horses (if deer scare them) or runaway horses if dogs chase us (which happened to them once already). It’s very hard to stop a runaway horse with only a halter on! On a positive note the horse were very well cared for and the ride was nice for being in the city. You spend the entire ride right next to or under the giant buzzing power lines so be aware if that. All in all… I wouldn’t do it again.

About Morris's Shadow Mountain Stables

Bonnie Morris's love of horses began when she was just 9 years old. By age 10, she was the proud guardian of her own colt. And at 22, she set the wheels in motion to open her own training center. Today, at Morris's Shadow Mountain Stables, she and her staff continue to bond riders and steeds within the five-acre haven, far beyond the reaches of the cluttered outside world.

How Best to Bond

  • Lessons and summer camps teach showmanship and horse care
  • Trail rides mosey through nearby woods, meadows, and grasslands overlooking Mount Rainier
  • Birthday parties include horseback rides
