Laughter is the best medicine, though it tends to be the worst legal defense. Salute the healing art of stand-up with today's Groupon: for $20, you get two general admission tickets (up to a $30 value) and $30 worth of sandwiches, pizzas, wings, drinks, and more at Morty's Comedy Joint on East 96th Street. Ticket prices vary by show. Audience members must be at least 18 and have a valid ID.
Morty’s Comedy Joint hosts professional comedians from across the country in a classy comedy club that seats up to 325 guests and features high-quality audio/video equipment. Two general admission tickets (up to $15 apiece) grant stand-up fans passage to their choice of a variety of uproariously funny acts, such as Ty Barnett, a native of Chicago’s South Side who has appeared on Comedy Central, The Tonight Show, and Last Comic Standing, or Cathy Ladman, one of three finalists in Nick at Nite’s “Funniest Mom in America.” In addition to feeding laugh hunger, this deal grants guests $30 worth of marvelous bar-style edibles and imbibables. Try a seven-inch grilled chicken pizza; an oven-baked Italian pie smothered with white sauce, spinach, and strips of fowl ($8.99); or a pork tenderloin sandwich served with crinkle-cut fries ($7.99). To lubricate chuckle tubes and satisfy the showroom’s two-item minimum, audience members can slurp down various microbeers ($4.50 a bottle), sip glasses of merlot ($5.50), or distinguish each of the four rums hiding in a signature Morty’s madness cocktail ($12.99).
Because the shows are so popular and seating is first-come first-serve, Morty’s Comedy Joint recommends that guests show up 30 minutes before showtime. Reservations are not required, but are encouraged. Use today’s deal to share an intimately laughable experience with a date, friend, or business partner who needs to lighten up about those letters from the IRS.
