$17 for $35 Worth of Sushi and Drinks

Sushi chefs prepare traditional maki rolls such as the crunch roll with spicy tuna and tempura asparagus ($10), the futomaki with spinach, egg, and shiitake mushrooms ($6), and and the Sophie-san with shrimp tempura, cucumber, and avocado topped with spicy red crab ($12.50). At the specialty sushi bar, bites of pressed oshizushi range from sea eel ($14) to Norwegian mackerel and white kelp ($14). Drafts of Sapporo ($5.50) and Maritime IPA ($6) flow from the tap to complement specialty cocktails such as Hell’s Wind—a staff favorite made from fuji-apple-infused bourbon ($11). See the menus.

Moshi Moshi Sushi

At Moshi Moshi Sushi, a large sakura tree hangs over the dining room, its branches of white LED lights shining like cherry blossoms amid the soft glow of paper lanterns. As patrons bathe in this light reminiscent of a Japanese garden, sushi chefs transform fresh fish—flown in regularly from Tokyo’s Tsukiji Market—into maki rolls and sashimi. Meanwhile, bartenders mix several specialty cocktails—such as the Death Poem, a blend of Guatemalan rum, rye whiskey, grapefruit, and cinnamon—to pay homage to Japan’s natural mountain streams of hot sake.
