What You'll Get

This Groupon is good for seating in sections M–U. Choose from three showtimes:

- Saturday, April 2 at 8 p.m.
Garnering critical acclaim, the 2007 off-Broadway hit Mother Load is an uproarious and insightful one-woman show about new mothers, nature’s most callow and untutored creatures. Written by and starring Amy Wilson, a stage-and-screen veteran whose acting credits include appearances on Norm, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and the film Kinsey, Mother Load riffs on the prenatal yoga sessions, gluten-free baby foods, and lactation consultants that inhabit the world of twenty-first-century maternity. Swimming in a sea of seats, cascading down to a wide stage that stretches back into the shadows, patrons can bask in the ambience of the vintage Uptown Theater while they laugh their socks into matching pairs.
Grand Prairie’s historic Uptown Theater opened as a state-of-the-art movie house in 1950, but closed down in the '90s once it became clear how unpopular cinema was. Purchased by the city and restored to its former glory, the Uptown reopened as a live-performance venue in 2008.
Mother Load was featured by BroadwayWorld.com:
- Billed as a performance audiences will enjoy whether they are mothers or just have one, Amy Wilson's personal story of her daily role as a mother offers laughs, tears and most importantly a breath of fresh air that brings motherhood back to what ultimately matters most. – Amanda Scarpone
