Only a biker knows why a dog sticks its head out of a car window or why bugs stuck to the front of a car are said to be the world’s happiest creatures. Feel the wind in your face with today's Groupon: for $150, you get a basic rider course at Motorcycle Riding School (a $300 value). Today's Groupon is good for Monday–Tuesday classes that meet 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Although this course is intended for riding newbies, experienced riders can take the class to refresh their skills.
The first motorcycle school in Illinois, Motorcycle Riding School tutors trainees in the basics of safe hog-handling so that they can become licensed motorcycle masters. In two seven-hour classes designed by the godfather of choppers, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, motorcycle mavens with at least five years of riding experience and two certifications train up to 12 power-pedal pupils in control and safety on their engine-driven beasts. Each day begins with two hours in the classroom, where rocket riders brush up on motorcycle controls, sufficient riding apparel, and safe riding techniques. Next, motorbike mavens get five hours on the riding range, where they'll get hands-on training, progressing from riding in straight lines to mastering turns, sudden stops, and avoidance swerving, all in preparation for a televised leap across the shark-infested fountain at Caesars Palace. Once the two-day course is completed, riders can take an on-site test for their motorcycle license, offered every Friday morning.
Students must have an Illinois driver's license as well as a motorcycle learner's permit or a class "M" driver's license from the Illinois Secretary of State before attending class and must be able to ride a bicycle, preferably without the use of hands or feet. The dress code includes long pants and a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, over-the-ankle boots or shoes with a heel no higher than 2 inches, and a helmet, which Motorcycle Riding School can loan to uncapped craniums. Future wheelie-poppers are often entitled to competitive insurance discounts after completing the course.

About Motorcycle Riding S'cool
Motorcycle Riding'sCool is endorsed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Its instructors are certified by that same organization, as well as by the Secretary of State of Illinois, and thus impart to students—both seasoned and staring out–the essentials of safely riding a bike. Classes start inside of a West Town loft and move to a closed course for the riding portions. There, students trade their desks for an IDOT-inspected bike and helmet, and put their knowledge to use on a paved riding range. The school offers a 14-hour basic rider course for beginners, and allows those who complete the course to take the licensing test on site. Other classes include a course for experienced riders looking to brush up their skills, and a motorcycle maintenance class that deals with how to take care of a bike and determine which oats to feed it.
