Gas-powered cars will soon be replaced by electric cars, which will be replaced by two-person motorcycles powered by nightmares. Catch some combustion-engine action while you can with today's Groupon: for $12, you get tickets for two adults and two students (ages 12–17) to a Friday-night race of your choice (see sidebar for valid dates) at the Motordrome Speedway (up to a $36 value), located in Smithton. Children ages 11 and under get free admission.
Founded by Floyd "Butch" and Pearl Overly in 1972, the NASCAR–sanctioned Motordrome Speedway entertains fans with weekly automotive racing contests on its half-mile-long asphalt track. With this deal, you get tickets to a select Friday-night race that features five racing divisions, including street stock (American non-sports cars) and charger (American stock autos built between 1970–1990), each NWAAS racing event displays a variety of vehicle and racing styles. Made up of mostly local teams and drivers, the races give auto aficionados the chance show off their driving skills without jumping over gorges during a DMV driving test. With a community-friendly atmosphere involving many of the racers' own families, the Motordrome allows visitors to bring their own comestibles and drinks in a 14-inch or smaller cooler, and parking for the events is free.
