If you want to look around the small town, take something quick to eat.

It gets very cool on the rip and I would recommend that you take a sweater or wind breaker. Also when the train stops for lunch eat first then inhale the sights.

What You'll Get

Riding in a historic train lets you live out a bit of the past, much like delivering your own mail on a pony named Express. Race back in time with this Groupon.

Choose from 42 Options

Tours run on select Saturdays and Sundays in March and April. Choose a 360-degree view in the sky dome, relax at a table in Diamond class with a large picture window, or peer out at Mount Hood and Mount Adams from the standard class areas. During this new excursion, passengers will be joined by a crew of bootleggers using the train to bring whiskey from the mountains to the Columbia River.

The train often rolls past idyllic vineyard landscapes and blossoming orchards, and a 1-hour stop at Parkdale lets passengers stretch their legs in the fresh mountain air before the return trip. Concessions are available on the train for an added cost and an Apple Valley BBQ lunch is available for $10 per person (not included with this Groupon).

About Mount Hood Railroad

Taking a scenic tour aboard Mount Hood Railroad is like stepping back in time. Their vintage restored railcars provide the nostalgia of a bygone era. While onboard, Mount Hood and Mount Adams provide picturesque backdrops as guests travel through woods and orchards and guests can almost smell the freshly-picked fruit and milled wood that grows just beyond the train's windows as it rolls through the Hood River Valley—products that have been carried along the 22-mile track since the Oregon Lumber Company built the short-line railroad in 1906.

A stop in Parkdale offers guests a chance to enjoy the park to stretch their legs, purchase a hot meal from Apple Valley Barbeque on picnic tables (meal tickets for sale at depot prior to boarding) or visit the Hutson Museum--free admission ticket included.
