Click here for a list of available tours, which begin at 10 a.m. on select Saturdays and Sundays in March and April. Choose a 360-degree view in the upper dome, relax at the lower dome's booth-style tables with large picture windows, or peer out at Mount Hood and Mount Adams from the coach and parlor areas. The springtime excursion often rolls past idyllic vineyard landscapes and blossoming orchards, and a short stop at Parkdale lets passengers stretch their legs in the fresh mountain air before the return trip.

Each option also includes complimentary parking for one car (normally $5) and a 15% discount in the gift shop. Passengers should arrive at least 20 minutes prior to departure.

Mount Hood Railroad

Taking a scenic tour aboard Mount Hood Railroad is like stepping back in time. You can almost smell the freshly picked fruit and milled wood that grows just beyond the train's windows as it rolls through the Hood River Valley—products that have been carried along the 22-mile track since the Oregon Lumber Company built the short-line railroad in 1906.

While aboard, Mount Hood and Mount Adams provide picturesque backdrops. According to The Railroad Nation, the railroad's newly-renovated 1955 Pullman club car combines historic nostalgia with modern amenities. Passengers are also welcome to taste some regional flavors from freshly-prepared meals sourced from local ingredients made right on the train.

Customer Reviews

The Kids had lots of fun, we loved the blossom orchards along the way, historic and charming!

The weather was great, and had a wonderful time. The couple that shared our table were so much fun. I enjoyed the information about the area.

I especially like their historical commentary while the train was travelling. I enjoyed the trip so much that I plan to take the trip at least a couple times a year in the future, and hope they vary the information. The area has such an interesting history geologically, socially, and financially. The stop in Parkdale for lunch was fun- the restaurants seemed geared up and ready for the rush- although I got my sandwich "to go" and wandered through a local orchard to enjoy the blossoms and scenery. Playground across the street was perfect for children who needed exercise. Was there a fruit stand near the train? It would have been nice to buy an assortment of local fruit to take home.
