Robin does an amazing job of informing you about all the uses and benefits of olive oil. She also gives a brief history. The tasting was interesting. I had never before sipped olive oil. Each oil has its own distinct flavor. The vinegars are amazing! So many to choose from. I would recommend taking the class. It was a lot of fun

What You'll Get

Until our skeletal systems are completely replaced with indestructible machinery, human beings will continue to be dependent upon the delicious friction-reducing and bone-polishing properties of olive oil. Stay well lubricated from inside with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of gourmet olive oils and vinegars from Mountain Town Olive Oil in Park City or the new Salt Lake City location.

Mountain Town Olive Oil sells more than 35 varieties of small batch olive oils and balsamic vinegars, including flavor-infused and organic varieties, gathered from around the olive-shaped globe. Olive oils include the natural butter extra virgin Australian Barnea olive oil ($15.50), made with Barnea olives crushed after being stood up for prom, as well as the slightly less chaste chipotle-infused oil ($15.50), which can attribute its subtly spicy reputation to a tryst with fire roasted jalapeños and a Mexican spice blend. Balsamic vinegars are available with fruit infusions such as fig, pomegranate, and white peach ($14.95 each), as is the popular traditional 18-year varietal, hailing from Modena, Italy, and smooth enough to be enjoyed on top of cheese, fresh fruit, or even vanilla ice cream. Forgo plans to stealthily bake yourself into a crusty loaf of ciabatta and instead take advantage of Mountain Town's complimentary tasting, which allows you to try any variety of oil or vinegar before you buy it.

Obtaining a high-quality olive oil doesn't have to involve dirty fistfights with a jealous, disproportionately muscular sailor man. The friendly Mountain Town staff is on hand to guide customers through the oil-tasting process, as well as to recommend recipes and gift ideas for the culinary oil tycoon and hard-to-shop-for anchovy on every holiday gift list.

Though online reviews for Mountain Town Olive Oil are still growing, Kathy Stephenson, food writer for The Salt Lake Tribune, featured the store on her Bite by Bite blog. The shop was also featured on City Weekly.

  • At Mountain Town Olive Oil, customers journey through France, Greece and Spain. They linger in Italy, get a taste of Tunisia and then stop at Australia, all before reaching the cash register. – Kathy Stephenson, Bite by Bite
  • Located on Main Street in Park City’s Old Town, Mountain Town Olive Oil Co. is a mecca for olive oil aficionados, carrying more than 35 kinds of olive oil, including single varietals from Australiam, Europe and California and two unique organic oils. Sort of like a wine-tasting room, Mountain Town Olive Oil Co. is set up for customers to sample all of the oils. – Ted Scheffler, City Weekly

About Mountain Town Olive Oil

Mountain Town Olive Oil provides cooks an alternative to cooking butter with extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), a much healthier and more flavorful option. Visiting EVOO connoisseurs will find a a wide range of specialty olive oils. Many are tinged with unusual flavors: lemon, harissa, basil, and, for the staunch traditionalist, even butter. The same is true of gourmet and balsamic vinegars—try the black cherry, cinnamon pear, or dark chocolate vinegars for proof.
