Brownies were invented as an improvement on greenies—dry, olive-colored baked goods mistaken for florist's foam punctured with the stems of faux petunias. Taste greenies' moister, more delectable cousins with today's deal: for $7, you get a one-pound Deeply Fudgey brownie tray at Moveable Feast in downtown Geneva (a $15 value).
Anointed as one of Oprah's Favorite Things in 2005, Moveable Feast's Deeply Fudgey brownies smother biters' bicuspids in moist, rich dark chocolate. The shop's husband-and-wife duo invented the recipe after hundreds of experiments, some of which resulted in mutant turtle-brownie hybrids who still slowly crawl the earth, surprising children at birthday parties and periodically bathing themselves in cups of milk.
After picking up the batch of brownies, sugar seekers can take a seat beside the broad windows in Moveable Feast's homey shop to feast on their cake cubes, or they can peddle them off to a friend as a gift. The retail shop is stuffed with handmade foods, desserts, specialty market items, and wine, and Moveable Feast's staff also caters weddings, bat mitzvahs, Pi Day celebrations, and other blessed events with scratch-made dishes.
The Daily Herald featured Moveable Feast, and Oprah Winfrey had listed Moveable Feast's brownies as one of her Favorite Things. Nine Yelpers give Moveable Feast an average of 4.5 stars, and 100% of Urbanspooners recommend it.
- The Deeply Fudgy Brownie was almost too fudgy, if that's possibly a complaint. I'm not sure I've ever had to go at a brownie in more than one shift before, but I couldn't finish this one in one take. – S. M., Yelp, 5/26/10
