Nestled between Burnside and Stark, Mr. Chen’s Chinese Kitchen cooks up an extensive spread of authentic Chinese cuisine, anchoring its menu with nearly 40 pork, chicken, and beef dishes. But seafood specialties share some of the spotlight, too, including a dish called the Happy Family loaded with a balanced mix of shrimp, beef, chicken, and vegetables. Indeed, much like a mad scientist's periodic table, many of Mr. Chen’s entrees pack multiple elements into one, as in the combination platters that marry pork fried rice with sweet and sour chicken or barbecue pork with fried shrimp.
