Conductors got their name by both guiding orchestras and wielding copper batons that deflect lightning away from the brass section. Behold an electrifying performance with today’s Groupon to Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. Choose between the following options:

  • For $20, you get two admissions to Pops II: Your Song: The Music of Elton John on Saturday, February 11 (a $40 value).

  • For $30, you get two admissions to Bravo IV: Exotic, Eclectic & Electric on Saturday, February 25 (a $60 value).<p>

Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. at Thalia Mara Hall. Groupon vouchers are valid for premium section seating on the main floor, highlighted here in light blue.

Under the masterful baton brandishing of music director and conductor Crafton Beck, Mississippi Symphony Orchestra’s accomplished ensemble of musicians enchants audiences with more than 120 concerts statewide each year. Accompanied by touring vocalist Jean Meilleur, pianist John Regan, and the Jeans ‘n Classics band, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra regales spectators with classic Elton John tunes such as “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” and a rendition of “Circle of Life” from The Lion King complete with a meerkat trip-hop group. Violin wiz Stephanie Chase pilots the orchestra through Leonard Bernstein’s Serenade between bookending compositions from Carlos Chavez and Camille Saint-Saëns during Bravo IV: Exotic, Eclectic & Electric. Guests to the latter program are invited to a complimentary 6:45 p.m. preconcert lecture at the Mississippi Museum of Art, where scholar Timothy Coker illuminates audiences on the merits of using pots and pans as substitutes for drum sets.

Keep up the good work

It was wonderful! I went with someone who had never been to the symphony before, and he loved it, as did I! I think Jeans and Classics is a great way to expose new people to the symphony.
