An all-ages, family-friendly event, the MuckRun adds a twist to the regular 5K obstacle course with a fun Halloween theme for the 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. waves. Gates open at 1 p.m. and free parking is available. During the race, waves of runners dash through swamps, forests, and creeks on a 430-acre working farm. Obstacles such as hay bales, muddy slides, and pipes block the path; there will also be ghoulish decorations and spooky sites to gape at and a 200-foot slip-n-slide at the finish line. Runners relax and recharge with bonfires, marshmallows, a petting zoo, nature trails, and hayrides after the race, and the best costume gets a sweet prize. Guests are welcome to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.<p>
On a remote farm in northeast Georgia, hundreds of people are lining up to slog through mud and scamper over obstacles for 5 kilometers. Some may say they’re crazy, and some may say they’re being pursued by a pack of hungry toddlers, but they’d both be wrong—these brave hundreds are athletes dashing through the MuckRun obstacle course.
Meandering through forests, swamps, and creeks, the 5K MuckRun course tests runners with obstacles such as mud slides, hay-bale pyramids, and a human spider web. At the conclusion of the race, an awards ceremony bestows prizes upon the victors, and live tunes and food nourish the ears and mouths of each contestant. Just like at an all-company meeting, there's also a prize for the person with the best costume. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.
