On Sunday, July 28, the Mud Ninja’s obstacle-littered gauntlet will challenge racers to conquer 5 kilometers of grueling terrain and muscle-straining roadblocks, all while help to raise money for Autism Speaks. Those who enter the challenge receive a T-shirt, admission to the after party, a Mud Ninja decal, and a complimentary beer (for participants aged 21 and older); those able to drag themselves to the end of the course earn the coveted Mud Ninja title and a ninja-throwing-star medal.
Kiddie contestants can emulate their parents in the Little Mud Ninja challenge and combat less extreme impediments including balance beams, mud pits, and messy toy rooms in need of straightening. Both the Mud Ninja and Little Mud Ninja events take place from 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; participants must pre-register online no later than May 30 in order to compete.
Prices vary based on registration date.
Lurking in the darkness of moisture-saturated topsoil, the mud ninja challenges competitors to attempt his 5K obstacle-laden course. Serving the purpose of allowing entrants to live out their reality-show fantasies, the Mud Ninja race requires participants to crawl through mud pits covered with barbed wire and scale steep walls before leaping onto multiple mounds that punish imbalanced racers with a splash. Throughout the 5K course, contestants splat into mud pits in front of hundreds of spectators. The Little Mud Ninja Challenge scales the course for younger racers, and an after-party engages all with music and epic colored bubble machines and a plethora of food vendors.
