At the award-winning Muir Murray Estate Winery, wines collaborate with breads and cheeses to orchestrate note-rich tastings. Parties of two or four can clink wine glasses in syncopation with the room’s lively music while sampling wines that may include the 2008 Atlantic Tide, a light white wine with hints of apple and pear. Red wines such as the Black Walnut ensconce taste buds in a bed of velvety tannins, and a dessert wine illustrates the benefits of feeding grapes sugar cubes before juicing them. Bread-and-cheese cleanses enhance flavour experiences between Bacchus-endorsed pours. Tastings last a little less than an hour, and afterward guests can stroll on the winery’s rolling fields or wander onto decks overlooking scenic Cape Blomidon, surrounded by sound-wave-saturated evening air that drowns out the grapevines’ whispered rumours.

About Muir Murray Estate Winery
Muir Murray Estate Winery owners Jonathan and Lesley Murray use the region’s shorter growing periods to produce a unique blend of grapes rarely found in other climates. Due to their stringent process for selecting the finest grapes, the harvesting season on their 20-acre vineyard yields only about 1.5 tonnes of grapes per acre, which is about 2.5 tonnes less than the industry average. This results in a wine list of refined aromas and signature flavours, and a mouthfeel more pleasurable than either side of a velcro shoe-strap.
