Choose Between Two Options

  • $55 for a puffin- and whale-watching tour for two (up to a $110 value)
  • $110 for a puffin- and whale-watching tour for four (up to a $220 value)

Tours, which range from 2–2.5 hours, take groups past the largest Atlantic Puffin colony in North America, with glimpses of the native birds, whales and other aquatic life, and—when seasonally appropriate—icebergs. During peak season, tours usually depart at 9:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m.

Student, senior, and military discounted tickets are available but this Groupon still offers the best deal available. Children 5 and under are free.

Mullowney's Boat Tours

The four small islands that make up the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve accommodate the largest Atlantic puffin colony in North America. The protected sanctuary is also home to millions of other seabirds, including Northern fulmars, black-legged kittiwakes, and razorbills. In the surrounding waters, more than a dozen different whale species—including humpbacks, finbacks, and minkes—swim among icebergs, sea stacks, and caves.

Passengers can catch unobstructed glimpses of these sights from the M.V. Mary Vincent's two observation decks. On two-hour, Canadian Coast Guard–certified tours held from May to September, the crew sails past the reserve as a guide enthralls guests with tales of the HMS Sapphire, which sank in Bay Bulls' waters in 1696. Due to Newfoundland's unpredictable weather, Mullowney's Boat Tours encourages visitors to dress warmly and pack a raincoat.

My sister was visiting from Florida at the time so the timing with the Groupon was great! We thoroughly enjoyed the tour - saw lots of whales, puffins, kittiwakes, turrs .... and the weather was great ... and last but not least, Mullowney's made the tour enjoyable and we felt safe and in capable hands. I took lots of pics which my sister is showing all her friends in FL. She said she is after mentioning it to some people who are going to be visiting NL. Come where we're to! A good time is guaranteed! :)
