Groups of up to 20 enter Murder by Chocolate through a secret passageway. At the door, they’re greeted by a butler, who leads them on a brief tour. But the tour is cut short when the lights go out and someone lets out a scream.
When the lights go back on, it’s apparent that a crime took place, and everyone in the room is both suspect and sleuth.
Guests uncover clues, analyze fingerprints, and solve puzzles to determine who committed the crime. During the investigation, each participant is filmed in a reality-show-style interview. The interviews, as well as footage of the investigative efforts, are compiled and edited into a highlight video reel that each guest can take home. Longer, 30-minute video segments aptly named I can’t believe you think I did it! will also appear on the Murder by Chocolate website. Snacks and beverages will be offered throughout the evening.
The one-hour experience takes place Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Saturdays at noon and 2 p.m.
Murder by Chocolate
Murder mysteries often involve an unforeseen string of events that leads to an unexpected outcome. Appropriately enough, that's just how Murder by Chocolate got its start, after one of the current owners was forced to abandon his longtime manufacturing career. On a whim, he decided to start a dinner theater. Today, that impulsive career change has turned into a vibrant company whose actors pique audiences’ interest during shows in a mysterious theater, a period-appropriate coffee house, and even an imposing castle. No matter where they’re performed, the shows stay family-friendly, running the gamut from murder mystery tea parties to musical comedies and family nights complete with pizza.
