Museum of Craft and Design

Cardboard transformed into eye-catching sculptures. Factory tools turned into works of art. Intricate works of clay. That's just a small sample of what Museum of Craft and Design's visitors have seen since 2004. As a collection of rotating exhibitions, the museum's pieces are always changing to showcase the role of craft and design in the world, both past and present.

  • Don't Miss: the Museum Store, where you can take home your very own contemporary crafts from both seasoned and new artists
  • Hands-On Experiments: maker workshops have had kids designing duct-tape wallets and sugar skulls and adults learning to make origami mobiles and fiber art
  • Special Programs: the museum offers artist lectures, docent-led tours on weekdays, and various events to engage the surrounding community
  • While You're in the Neighborhood: sip your coffee or read a book in the museum-designed parklet just outside; its lime-green walls and succulents enliven the sidewalk
  • Pro Tip: admission is free the first Tuesday of every month, though children aged 12 or younger always get in for free

Customer Reviews

Very well done and thoroughly inspiring. The museum is small but with sufficient detail to be satisfied and better learned by departure. Neighborhood is inviting with hot spots close by.

The museum was wonderful! It is better to show your groupon on your smartphone than a printed version because they ask you to click Redeemed button. I came with a printed version and they didn't know how to handle it in the beginning. But let me in nevertheless. Again, exposition is very interesting!
