Although it sits beneath the leafy trees of historic River Oaks, the mansion known as Rienzi has the interior furnishings worthy of a European villa. Originally built for philanthropists Carroll Sterling Masterson and Harris Masterson III during the boom years following World War II, the home is now under the stewardship of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Today, docents lead guests through its opulent rooms, which house collections of European decorative arts, paintings, furnishings, and miniatures. In addition to tours, Rienzi also hosts a busy schedule of special events ranging from lectures to musical performances.

It has been decades since I have been to the museum. I really enjoyed it. Be advise the museum has a large parking lot across the street that is available to guest. You might also consider renting the audio tour to learn more about the exhibits
