Museum of Health Care of Kingston
The Museum of Health Care of Kingston tells the story of Canadian health and medicine through the centuries. In-depth exhibits display antique artifacts, while family programs entice kids with hands-on activities.
The Building: The museum is housed inside the Ann Baillie Building, a former student-nurse residence done in the beaux-arts style.
Permanent Mainstay: For Service to Humanity celebrates the contribution of nurses to healthcare and explores the central role hospitals once played in training new nurses.
Don't Miss: The early 1900s static generator is the centerpiece of Electricity and the Invisible Ray, which examines the impact electricity had on medicine, sparking innovations such as the x-ray.
Hands-On Exhibit: Geared towards children, The Skin You're In explores the body's largest organ through hands-on activities and artmaking.
Past Exhibits: Teeth in Time collected 1500 artifacts and documents, including dental chairs, instruments, and a set of dentures made from deer teeth.
