The Museum of Ontario Archaeology immerses visitors in the history and archaeology of Southwestern Ontario with a variety of exhibits, tours, activities, and demonstrations. Curious explorers stroll through 11,000 years of the region's human history, which can be supplemented with an audio guide and bolstered by detailed displays and films. Formerly known as The Museum of Indian Archaeology, the building is adjacent to the Lawson Prehistoric Iroquoian Village, a partial reconstruction of a 16th-century Neutral Iroquois community that also serves as an active excavation site. The site—the only one of its kind in Canada—invites tour-goers to gaze at a host of structures within the village, a segment of the more than two million storytelling objects gathered by the museum’s curators and fleet of trained gophers. A theatre, gift shop, and craft-room space deliver rich history and past-life flashback opportunities to groups and provide continuous historical rewards for year-long members.
