Q:

The last scheduled day for this tour on the MOS web site is October 4, 2011. This Groupon expires November 13, 2011. Will more tours be available after October 4, 2011 --OR-- is the expiration date of this Groupon effectively October, 2011 (and useless after October 4, 2011)?

Bruce B.  asked on  Sep 5, 2011

A:

Sorry for the confusion. The Museum of Science will be adding more dates shortly. The expiration date for this Groupon is still November 13, 2011.

Q:

We will be in Boston from 5th to 8th September and it looks like it will be raining most of the week. Can you advise if the Segway tours are run when it is raining. If so are light plastic rain disposable jackets provided? Thanks.

Alexander W.  asked on  Sep 4, 2011

A:

Great question! To start, it is important that we keep in mind just how often the weather report for this region is, well, wrong. Hahahaha! And even when we do have rain during the touring season, it often passes through quite quickly, as opposed to sticking around for days on end. We're very lucky in that respect. Yes, our Segway Experience does operate in a little bit of rain, which presents no particular risks to riders or to the Segway machines. In fact, a little rain can be refreshing as we cruise along the Charles River this time of year; it adds to the sense of adventure. And we do indeed provide disposable ponchos as a free service to our guests. When the weather is a bit more severe (e.g. driving rain, dangerous winds, ice of any kind, lightning nearby), we will always err on the side of caution and will reschedule tours, as needed. Most often what has happened in the past is that a group of riders, accompanied by their experienced Tour Guide, of course, encounters a small amount of rain and simply takes cover somewhere dry until it passes. This might be somewhere on the MIT campus, on which there are many places to wait out the passing rain.

Q:

A question for Groupon: I want to buy this for a friend and his wife. Can I just buy it as is and give them thr Groupon? I have noticed in the past that in some cases you make a distinction between buying for oneself and for a member. Thanks!

KVS V.  asked on  Sep 4, 2011

A:

It is always best to buy it as a gift so the gift receipt's information is associated with the Groupon. You have an option to print it instead of emailing it in case you want it to be a surprise.

Q:

Do you need to have really good balance to ride a Segway?

Janine D.  asked on  Sep 3, 2011

A:

Riders must be able to step on and off the Segway without assistance. The Segway has an eight-inch step height and requires physical abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without the support of a handrail or other walking aid.

Riders must be able to stand for designated periods of time, taking into consideration the duration of the tour or rental you are selecting.

Q:

Is there a way to reserve a spot in advance without having to go to the Museum of Science in person? I just called the Museum of Science in Boston to reserve a spot for this weekend, but they do not take reservations without payment and will not accept the Groupon as payment (since they are accepting payments as a service to Segway of Boston). The only way to use the Groupon is to show up early, in person, and hope that the 6-person time slot you want has not been filled. It was recommended that I call Segway of Boston at 617-225-0002 to try and reserve a time slot using the Groupon; however, there was no answer when I called (I left a vm at 3pm on Friday, Sept. 2). This is my first time trying to use Groupon for a city other than where I live, so if all the time slots are filled before I even get there I hope that there will not be an issue getting a refund.

Sorry for the confusion.

A reservation is not required to use this Groupon. To redeem this Groupon, you just have to present the Groupon voucher upon arrival. If you have any further questions, please let us know at support@groupon.com.

A:

Unfortunately when this offer first dropped yesterday the restriction for "walk ups only" was inadvertently left off by Groupon. Since the offer was viewed (and purchased) by so many before it was fixed in order to manage confusion we scrambled to find a way to be able to book Groupon reservations for the Segway tour in advance, We are now happy to announce that you may make reservations in advance by calling our call center at 617-723-2500. We are open 7 days a week from 9 to 5. However, please be advised that your Groupon is forfeited and marked as used at the time of reservation so make sure that you are reserving for a time that you are certain that you can be here. Please note that the call center, the Museum of Science and its Segway Experience Tours will be closed on Tuesday, September 6th.

Q:

I purchased 3 2-person segway tickets. I am going to do this Groupon twice with 3 people each time. Do I need to purchase 2 double tickets and 2 single tickets or can I split one of the doubles to two different days? Thanks,

linda r.  asked on  Sep 2, 2011

A:

Each Groupon must be used in a single visit, it cannot be split up. If you plan and taking 2 friends during each of your visits, it will be best to purchase 2-two ticket options and 2-one ticket options.

Q:

If I get two tickets, can I give one of the ticket to my friend? It is cheaper that way.

Boni L.  asked on  Sep 2, 2011

A:

Yes! For the $59 option, you get two tickets to the Segway your.

Cesar M.  from  Groupon  replied on  Sep 2, 2011

A:

You will, however, need to come at the same time on the same tour in order to share the groupon.

Q:

We will be there (Boston) on a cruise in September. How could we get there from the cruise port?

Dolly M.  asked on  Sep 2, 2011

A:

The Museum of Science is located at 1 Science Park, Boston, Massachusetts 02114.

To get directions, please click here.

Cesar M.  from  Groupon  replied on  Sep 2, 2011

A:

It would be very easy to get to use via public transportation or a taxi (4-6 miles depending on the route). Try the trip planner on the MBTA website for more information. http://mbta.com/rider_tools/
