What You'll Get
Jump to: Reviews | Bernard Ziff: The "Before" Hand Model
Today's deal gets you a package of pampering: $29 buys you a French mani-pedi with aromatherapy and crowned with a glorious 15-minute dry hydrotherapy massage at My Derma Clinic Day Spa, a combined $80 value.
My Derma Clinic prides itself on having exacting standards for mani-pedi sanitation. All metal implements are sterilized in an autoclave, and the sterilized pouches are opened in front of you, like a package of fruit snacks but filled with implements. The massage pedicure chairs are pipeless, ensuring there's no water sitting in the pipes between clients. Feel a little relaxier knowing that your extremities are in caring hands. Aromatherapy scents dissolve effortlessly in your soaking basin, releasing their soothing powers ($7 value). Finish off the mani-pedi with long-lasting polish by Zoya ($58 value for French manicure).
After your digits have been cleaned, trimmed, and polished to pristine perfection, retreat to the hydro-thermo massage bed—the latest in techno blissology—for a 15-minute massage (a $15 value). The dry hydro-massage bed targets acupressure points with gentle jets of warm water that are contained within a waterbed (you don't get wet). Feel your joints open, your muscles release, and your tension dissolve under the gentle caress of a dozen skillful water hands. Stop in and browse the shop on your way out; this Groupon also gets you 15% off any regular-priced goods in the My Derma Boutique.
There are few reviews of My Derma Clinic on the web, but the one Yelper speaking up raves:
- I have been going to My Derma Clinic for about 8 months now and this place, well compares to some of the best spas I have visited...The owner definitely makes you feel like you own the place, talk about pampering!! – Mona K.
Bernard Ziff: The "Before" Hand Model
While most people only occasionally glance at their digits, some people are able to make a living with their fetching fingers: hand models. Here's an excerpt from the "Unsung Heroes" column in this month's Hand Stars Monthly, the hand-model trade mag:
You already know Bernard Ziff's hands from campaigns for lotions, manicures, and the medical strip industry, but index aficionados might be surprised to see his professional pinkies in person: His. Hands. Are. Ugly. That's right, Bernard is the go-to superstar in the world of "Before" hand modeling.
"These ugly hands pay my rent," says Bernard, who is unable to actually use any of the healing hand products he endorses for fear that they'll rob him of his livelihood. "I decided to become a "Before" model after causing a series of customers at Carey's Hoagie-osity to visibly recoil when I handed them their sandwiches."
Bernard keeps his not-exactly-misshapen-but-certainly-off-putting digits in special gloves lined with steel wool all day (except for the two hours a day in which he exposes them to heavy, cold winds). We salute you, Bernard, for giving hope to the homely handed that they could one day have fingers suitable for crown-cradling and jewelry-indicating.
