What You'll Get
Scuba diving is the only way left to find hidden treasure, befriend a nautical skeleton, or strap a huge tank to yourself. Explore the possibilities with today’s Groupon: for $225, you get a PADI Open Water certification course at My Scuba Adventures in Stallings (a $574 total value). The course includes:
- Classroom and in-pool instruction (a $299 value)
- Peak-performance buoyancy instruction (a $99 value)
- Four open-water dives in a local quarry (a $150 value)
- One-year Scuba Adventures Dive Club membership (a $26 value)
- PADI Open Water Diver certification upon completion<p>
Spread out across two weekends, open-water classes begin on Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., resuming Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All registrants must provide their own scuba-appropriate mask, snorkel, fins, and boots, though My Scuba Adventures provides gear for rental ($40) or purchase ($225).
At My Scuba Adventures, PADI instructors coach students towards attaining their Open Water Diver certification with intensive classes and open-water practice sessions. During the two weekends, students alternate between the swimming pool and the classroom, augmenting their in-water practice with readings from provided instruction materials and notes scrawled under the water by wise turtles. Next, students test their knowledge in the depths of local quarries, completing four open-water dives on one of four additional weekends. Done in tandem with the rest of the course, two extra sessions in both the pool and the open water help divers learn to maximize their buoyancy control by adjusting their air and maintaining a nitrogen-rich diet.
