Mary Surratt was convicted for taking part in the conspiracy to assassinate Abraham Lincoln and the first woman to be executed by the United States government. Maternal love, adolescent infatuation, passion, and narcissism are the defining themes of artist-playwright Tom Swimm's The Hanging of Mary Surratt, which seeks to explore a nationally well-known event on a more personal level. This historical drama -- coming to Mysterium Theater at The La Habra Depot Playhouse -- explores the events leading to Mary's arrest and the implications of her actions for her family.
Concessions will be available for purchase at intermission (candy, chips, soft drinks, coffee, water, etc.).
