What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?

I am a former U.S. Infantry Marine turned Yogi, working on my master’s in Spirituality and Psychology from Columbia’s Teachers College, so my Namaste Warrior Yoga method is derived from my extensive experience, combining the most effective exercises for mind & body from the richest and most effective mind/body sciences known to man: Yoga, Hindu Calisthenics, Buddhism, and Warrior skills. My personal belief is living in New York city boils down to “survival of the fittest”, if you fail to build a balanced lifestyle which includes deep inner knowledge of self-discipline, confidence, skillful action, and gratitude, you will feel restless, anxious, discontent, lethargic and tense, as if something is missing. A good Yoga practice aims to alleviate discontentment and build a firm moral resolve and rubber-like, elastic body and a creative mind capable of thriving in any given environment, be it the concrete jungle or the real jungle.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?

I worked for many of the local Yoga studios and health clubs and almost all of them stick to the one-hour class format. In my method the classes are 90 minutes and sometimes 100, which allows me that much needed time not to rush through philosophy or postures, and thoroughly explain the who,what, why and how. I like sharing the benefits of Yoga and its ability to optimize our modern lifestyles. I believe, when you take my 90 minute class, if you pay attention to the detailed instruction you may develop real life improving techniques fast, growing your practice and skills exponentially quicker than those shorter classes that lack focus and detail.

What do you love most about your job?

Naturally, its seeing my students progress, and ability to assimilate the techniques for best personal health & happiness. I don’t teach Yoga for the money, for me its all about creating a space for learning that may help people develop themselves into their very best. I like to see people in my class struggle, and then overcome their insecurities, weaknesses, limiting attitudes, rising to achieve personal excellence through knowledge, self-discipline, will power and self-comfort.

What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a customer?

The best moments are the ones when you see the student finally get the mechanics of the pose jsut right, you can feel their inner smile and feeling of achievement. Same goes for when the student aligns themselves with a certain Yogic virtue and embodies it for the first time fully and completely, the real wisdom of knowing, that is something special to see. Like when the person finally figures out proper tension-free balance in a headstand or crow pose, its just a beautiful sight of seeing a fellow human being triumph.
