Napa River Grill
The food at Napa River Grill lets diners head to Northern California without ever leaving home. The restaurant embraces the spirit of wine country cuisine, which often incorporates international influences to match its fresh ingredients. Napa River Grill's version of nachos features a textural melange of diced ahi tuna and cucumber slaw spooned atop crispy wonton chips, and its blackened sea bass arrives with lemongrass dashi and miso-braised bok choy. However, the restaurant's southern roots show through in the best places. Chefs buy produce from local farms, seek out locally crafted artisanal cheeses, and even add a kick of bourbon to their french onion soup. This deft balance of influences helped Napa River Grill earn a spot on the Southern Living list of the Top 20 Louisville Restaurants.
The restaurant's dedication to upscale northern Californian character is most apparent on the wine list. Although the selection includes bottles from around the globe, it highlights boutique and perennially popular California producers in particular. The dining room's impressionistic mural of rolling hills and California vineyards provides a fitting backdrop as diners savor wine by the flight, glass, bottle, or thimble. Napa River Grill also offers patio seating options, including large, circular stone tables with open flames rising from the centers.
