Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

Is it a year membership ? Why does it expire in 180 days (1/2 a year) ! ? !

Mike H.  asked on  Apr 29, 2013

A:

Mike - The actual Groupon expires in 180 days (not the B-cycle membership). Redeem your Groupon via our website before the expiration date on your Groupon voucher! The Nashville B-cycle annual membership expires 365 days after your membership period begins which is the day of the first time you check out a bike from a B-station following initial registration (not the day you register online). Q:

You can only check out a bike for an hour at a time? How much are the extra fees?? I am usually gone for several hours at a time.

Alisha S.  asked on  Apr 30, 2013

A:

Alisha - You can definitely check out a bike for longer than an hour! Usage fees apply for rides lasting longer than 60 minutes. Each additional 30 minutes is $1.50. More info: http://nashville.bcycle.com/pricing.aspx The philosophy behind a bike share system is to share the bikes, so short rides are encouraged. You can easily use the bikes while getting around town! Work downtown? Take a bike to East Nashville for lunch. From there head to a meeting in The Gulch. After that, ride back to your office. The possibilities are endless. To keep a bike out for less than 60 minutes, here is a tip: check out the bike from a B-station and dock the bike at the B-station closest to where you are going. That ride will definitely be less than 60 minutes as the longest distance between the stations is only 5 miles (5 Points to Centennial Park) ... an average of a 30 minute bike ride at a moderate pace. If you want to take a ride longer than an hour, not a problem. Before the first 60 minutes is up check that bike in to a B-station and then check another one out. You can continue to go on a long ride and not incur extra fees as long as you continue to check a bike in at any B-station once every 60 minutes. ~Andrea

Q:

For the one-year membership for two, how does the second person redeem their membership? And does that person have to be a family member?

Cindy H.  asked on  May 1, 2013

A:

Cindy - Once you purchase your Groupon you will receive two vouchers with two separate promotion codes. Each annual member will need to be registered individually on our website: https://nashville.bcycle.com/joinnow.aspx Use one promo code for each member. And no, the other person does not have to be a family member. Thanks! ~Andrea

Q:

Can this Groupon be used to renew or extend an existing membership once it expires?

Gretchen P.  asked on  Apr 30, 2013

A:

Gretchen - This Groupon offer is intended for new memberships and cannot be used to renew an expired annual membership. The Groupon deal expires 180 days after the Groupon is purchased (~6 months) and the oldest memberships in our system are only 4 months old, with 8 months left to go before they expire. If you have any questions about this, please call me 743-3097. Thank you! ~Andrea

Q:

Bought one of these and the B-cycle site said my promotion code was applied, and yet at the same time gave the message that "No promotion code like that exists." Have you been receiving similar questions/complaints from other purchasers? I have contacted the business but have not heard back.

Colby S.  asked on  Apr 29, 2013

A:

Colby - It looks like your membership processed correctly as you are in the system with a $0.00 charge for your annual membership. If you have any additional questions, please call me directly: 615-743-3097. Thank you! ~Andrea
