The 8-week beginner’s series meets in the same group each week on Mondays at 6:15 p.m., Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., or Wednesdays at noon. Ideal for beginners or those on a long hiatus, the class breaks down foundational postures to make each pose safe and accessible. The series improves flexibility, helps reduce stress, and builds confidence to step into any open class.

Nava Yoga Center
Above all else, Nava Yoga Center at The Navy Yard emphasizes the importance of strengthening connections. In addition to building a supportive, non-competitive sense of community among all of the students, the classes task attendees with focusing on the connection that exists between their mind and body. Vinyasa-based sessions combine sun salutations, deep twists, back bends, and the occasional inversion into seamlessly flowing sequences of asanas that can be performed by students of virtually all skill and fitness levels. These classes only represent one portion of the schedule though. Slower paced restorative yoga focuses on alignment and sustained, revitalizing stretches. Sessions in a heated studio space detoxify while mindfully building strength and flexibility, and the specialty Yoga Wall classes help students defy gravity with the help of wall-mounted straps that allow them to perform traditionally challenging poses with greater awareness and support. Additionally, Nava Yoga Center offers free on-site parking, as well as free use of mats, towels, showers, and saunas.
