About Negro Leagues Baseball Museum
For over 25 years, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum has worked to preserve the rich history of African-American baseball. Founded in 1990 and run out of a small office area in the Lincoln Building, the museum quickly expanded and now boasts multi-media exhibits and artifacts each honoring the great players and moments of the era.
- Size: 10,000 square feet of space filled with interactive exhibits alongside several hundred text panels and photographs all set in an immersive, old-school ballpark environment
- Eye Catcher: 10 life-sized bronze sculptures of Negro League greats including Satchel Paige, Cool Papa Bell and Josh Gibson each positioned on the Field of Legends, a mock baseball diamond
- Permanent Exhibits: a collection of galleries divided into sections with themes ranging from the founding of the League in 1920 to the great players who became stars in the majors
- Traveling Exhibits: touring exhibits include Shades of Greatness, an art exhibition inspired by the history of the League featuring over 35 pieces of original works from local and national artists
- Don't Miss: the Grand Stand Theater featuring the 15-minute film They Were All Stars narrated by James Earl Jones
