Art represents the triumph over chaos, just as pulled-pork donuts represent the triumph over dignity. Expand your tastes with today's Groupon: for $12, you get a one-year contemporary art forum membership at Neutral Ground (a $24 value).
Managed by practicing artists, Neutral Ground has hosted more than 700 contemporary art exhibitions, projects, and performances since its 1982 opening. The gallery's white walls and sleek hardwood floors boast a constantly rotating assortment of canvases and sculptures from Regina-based artists and international craftspeople from such foreign soils as France, Germany, Australia, and Spain. Soil Digital Media Suite, a Neutral Ground adjunct, highlights digital and interactive media such as video loops and paintings that challenge onlookers to staring contests. Premiering October 29 and running through December 9, Neutral Ground's latest show, Cabin Fever, assembles national and international pieces examining the psyche of boredom. Neutral Ground invites members to public events nearly every month on Saturday evenings for opportunities to mingle with fellow art appreciators and meet visiting artists. Additionally, lunchtime lectures illuminate new trends and analyses of contemporary work as diners assemble abstract sculptures from deli meats.
