Sherwood Forest’s swashbuckling swordsmen show their silly side in The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood from New Conservatory Theatre Center’s Summer Teen Ensemble. This Monty Pythonesque take features everyone’s favorite “guy in green,” Robin of Locksley, robbing the rich, helping the poor and battling a scheming sheriff … who has a penchant for bowling. Other oddballs complicate Robin’s noble quest, including a damsel obsessed with skin conditions, a good-natured “Town’s guy” who bumbles into every scene and a band of spoon-wielding Merry Men with a collective IQ of six. Mary Lynn Dobson’s The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood is an irreverent trip to Merrie Olde England you’ll long remember.
