What You'll Get
New Dominion Chorale is ending their 25th season on a high note with an energizing program of uplifting arrangements and powerful choruses. In this performance, the NDC sings Carl Orff's riveting and iconic Carmina Burana, Johannes Brahms' romantic Liebeslieder Waltzes, and the Washington premiere of NDC artistic director Thomas Beveridge's cantata, General William Booth Enters Into Heaven -- a composition based on Vachel Lindsay's poem about Salvation Army founder William Booth's arrival in paradise following his death in 1912. Mr. Beveridge's music makes ample use of instruments that characterize the Salvation Army bands, and there are familiar hymns interspersed throughout the piece, including "Onward, Christian Soldiers." The Chorale will be joined by Metropolitan Opera Soprano Danielle Talamantes, the Fairfax High School Select Ladies Ensemble and the National Men's Chorus.
