About New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial and Vietnam Era Museum

The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial shines a light on both the emotional impact of the Vietnam War and its political, cultural, and historical context. Serving as a testament to the cost of war is the outdoor memorial, designed by architect Hien Nguyen, who was forced to flee South Vietnam in 1975. Its black granite Wall of Names is etched with tributes to the New Jerseyans who never returned home, while statues and gardens present visitors with space to reflect.

The Vietnam Era Museum & Educational Center features documents, artifacts, and multimedia explorations of one of the most complex events in history. Inside, visitors can stroll through a historical timeline complete with touchscreen computers that offer an interactive education, or browse the Circle of Letters to experience the war from the perspective of soldiers and their families. Temporary exhibits, which often include art by or about service members, change 3–4 times a year.

Outstanding museum and memorial. One can learn a great deal about the conflict. The letters written by the veterans to their families were especially touching. Love the way the outside memorial was planned.

This was a great experience. The memorials outside are very inspiring and the tour inside is filled with much information about the war and culture of the time. My husband and I lived through the later part of the war as young adults. There was so much we didn't know. I highly recommend this tribute to the Americans who fought in Viet Nam Suzanne B.
