The safety protocols are very good; my family and I all felt very safe. The Women’s Rights exhibition is amazing. We also loved the Presidents exhibit. It was particularly sobering in these chaotic times to compare previous Presidents to 45.

I love this museum. For some reason, we were waiting in line for over an hour before seeing the main exhibit (Bill Graham). But regardless once we did experience the exhibit, we also went through the museum to see the other exhibits. Always a great time in this museum!

Only saw the Bill Graham exhibit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked a lot of it but I found that there was a big gap between around age 18 and 34 that left a lot of questions for me. Did he go to college? How did he become involved with producing concerts? None of this is explained.

About New-York Historical Society

A trip to New York would not be complete without a visit to the New-York Historical Society with its four centuries of history and art – and the only Children’s History Museum in the area. It hits the spot for anyone craving an offbeat (and often surprising) bite of the city’s culture easily digested in an hour or two.

  • Great Start: New York Story, an 18-minute panoramic film experience on a 75-foot screen captures 400 years of the city's history.
  • History, Visually Speaking: Image-heavy special exhibits
  • Permanent Mainstay: The reimagined fourth floor, which gives visitors an interactive exploration of new and historic objects.
  • Women’s Stories: We Rise, a 17-minute film focused on women's suffrage, features Meryl Streep on narration and Alicia Keys' vocals and songwriting on the track "We Are Here."
  • Eye Catchers: Picasso’s stage curtain for Le Tricorne ballet and the ceiling mural from Keith Haring's Pop Shop
  • Future History-Makers: DiMenna Children's History Museum, with games and interactive exhibits
  • Pro Tip: Catch top historians and public figures many weeknights as part of the museum's lecture series. Separate tickets are required, but past recordings are available for free online.
  • Make it a Date: Storico a cafe on the first floor, offers cocktails and inventive lunch and dinner menus.
  • Shop History: Shop your way through history in the award-winning store.
