What You'll Get
Molding dough into a perfectly round pizza crust requires superior hand-eye coordination, a massive protractor, and mittens knitted from flour. Savor circular flavor with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of pizzeria eats at New York Slices, located in Highland Park.
New York Slices emulates the essence of the Big Apple visually with murals of historic landmarks and orally with a menu that showcases cheek-staining discs of dough and sauce. Heated to a mouth-titillating temperature in an authentic brick oven, the 20-inch New York cheese pizza can feed groups of friends, bait Ninja Turtles, or make 12-inch pies acquire Napoleon complexes ($17.95). Smaller portions—including the grandma slice, made with smoked buffalo-mozzarella cheese and roasted garlic ($3.75), the ziti-topped pasta slice ($3.50), and the veggie slice ($3.50)—cater to individual satisfaction. Those looking to stray away from pie-chart-shaped eats can munch on pizza's unopened cousins, calzones ($4.95–$6.95), or chicken-parmesan sandwiches ($6.95) while bopping heads to live music on Saturdays or lively karaoke on Fridays.
New York Slices sometimes features discounted pricing, but this Groupon still offers the best deal available.

About New York Slices
For Mark Greenbaum and his father, Lewis, sharing a pizza meant spending quality time as a family. When his father passed away, Mark decided that the best way to honor his memory was to give Chicagoans a taste of the New York–style pie he had loved so much.
Mark’s venture proved wildly successful—Time Out Chicago columnist and Brooklyn transplant Judy Sutton Taylor swears the eatery “could hold its own alongside any Brooklyn pizzeria.” Aside from the traditional thin-crust pies, the menu at New York Slices also features a specialty Grandma’s pizza with a thicker crust and hand-embroidered pepperonis.
