Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, especially after acquiring amnesia. Never forget that strangers are just friends that you can’t remember with today’s Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of drinks and more at Next Door Lounge in City Park West.
A festive neighborhood dram dispensary, Next Door Lounge whets whistles with a panoply of potables, from carefully crafted cocktails to a well-curated selection of suds. Libations ($2.50–$10) range in size, color, shape, and vessel, with daily beer ($2.50) and shot ($3) specials to help guests hone their toast-making skills before a big wedding or important business bachelor party.
The vast array of beers runs the gamut of barley’s greatest hits, with draft brews, an array of bottled ales, and cold-can classics on hand to complement the virtually endless variety of cocktailed concoctions made possible by the bar’s selection of spirits. The kitchen offers hunger halters such as wings, burgers, sandwiches, and other goodies ($4–$9) from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday–Saturday (5 p.m.–9 p.m. on Sundays) to prevent peckish patrons from gnawing on bar stools, beer mugs, and each other.
Next Door Lounge’s location is ideal for dipping in and out between visits to Denver’s finest eateries—such as nearby Limón—and its giant 10’x6’ HD screen is ideal for Sunday afternoons spent watching the graceful gridiron ballet between quarterbacks and the water boys on whom they depend. The bar’s interior is appropriately lit for sandy games of shuffleboard, rousing bouts of billiards, and jukebox line dances, but still atmospherically dim enough for romantic dates.
Next Door Lounge
Every aspect of Next Door Lounge is designed with one goal in mind: helping patrons unwind. Craft beers complement Next Door’s menu of pub food classics, such as juicy Angus beef burgers and wings doused in fiery atomic sauce. As tunes play from the jukebox, the night’s biggest games and most crucial advertisements are shown on a 10'x6' television screen. Other matches unfold in-house, from tests of true aim on the beer pong table to careful stacking sessions with the bar’s giant Jenga set. Evenings at Next Door Lounge also pack plenty of live entertainment, including bingo and open mic nights.
