Sharing Mezedes on Randolph Street
Mezedes—or Mediterranean tapas—are a specialty at Nia Restaurant. These artfully presented plates are meant to be shared, making for an inherently social dining experience. If you've never dined mezedes-style before, expect to order multiple courses, each of which may include delicacies such as seasonal gnocchi, bacon-wrapped dates, and grilled baby octopus with limoncello. Savor each bite while seated on the eatery's patio, or inside, where French doors open to overlook Randolph Street.
Mediterranean Flavor with a Chicago Twist
Nia Restaurant founder Antonia Asimis tasted both traditional Mediterranean and haute Chicago cuisine at a young age, thanks to her Greek heritage and the teachings of her father, who was involved in the city's food scene. Today, she merges those traditions with her personal culinary philosophy to create a diverse pan-Mediterranean menu. Greek, Italian, and Moroccan mezedes mingle on table-tops, often enhanced by Chicago-area ingredients such as local honey. Asimis' drink program is just as diverse, with classic Mediterranean liqueurs behind the bar as well as award-winning wines from Spain, Greece, Portugal, Italy, and France.
