What You'll Get
As December 23, 2012, approaches, many Americans eagerly await the moment when Hades will emerge from the Underworld to recklessly devour raw egg. Until then, get access to the world of the beyond with today's Groupon: for $7, you get one ticket to the Nightmares Around Elm Street Tour, a candlelit walking tour from Carolina History & Haunts (up to a $15 value).
The approximately 90-minute candlelight walking tour will begin in front of the Melvin Municipal Building, and from there you’ll take a journey through Greensboro's most haunted haunts. A street- and story-wise guide will lead you around Elm Street's historic district by the flickering lights of wax-rods. You'll also visit Blandwood Mansion to hear tales of its dearly departed who never quite departed over the centuries.
Tours are held every Friday and Saturday night beginning at 8 p.m., as well as on evenings when the moon is full. Reservations are required, so call ahead to reserve your spot and plan on arriving 15 minutes before the tour's scheduled start time. The fearless tour guides pledge to trudge forth rain or shine, so arrive prepared by robing yourself in your favorite rain slicker, when weather permits.
