What You'll Get
Eating is necessary for human survival, along with breathing, sleeping, and remaining still while a curious velociraptor rummages through your closet. Practice survival tactics with today’s Groupon: for $40, you get an eight-course tasting menu at Nirvana (an $80 value). The meal includes:
Four courses of the following pre-selected appetizers:
- Stuffed mushrooms
- Vegetable samosa
- Spinach cakes
- Mint chicken tikka
Three courses of the following pre-selected entrees:
- Chicken tikka masala
- Rogan josh
- Nirvana dal
Your choice of pistachio kulfi or flourless carrot cake with coconut-pineapple ice cream for dessert
Chef Harnam Singh's hand-selected crew leads palates on a culinary voyage amidst the colorful tapestries, low sofas, and ornate statues of Nirvana's vibrant, art-splashed interior. Made-from-scratch feasts begin with the stomach-pleasing songs of mushrooms stuffed with cheese, and a set of spinach cakes lays down a tamarind-chutney-laced baseline. Cooks instill tenderness in Nirvana dal lentils by slowly stirring them over a charcoal fire for nearly 20 hours and showing them videos of a cloud's first steps. The slow-cooked lamb curry paints sweeping Indian landscapes with a complex bouquet of spices, and diners face a choice as challenging and sweet as a game of leapfrog with an oompa loompa as they vacillate between the cardamom-wine-infused ice cream of pistachio kulfi or the flourless carrot cake.
Alabaster-hued pillars give way to intimately sized tables ideal for commiserating factions of friends in the restaurant's dining area. Following meals, guests may retreat to Nirvana’s lavish, East Asian–accented lounge, where flowing, fish-filled riverbeds weave among curtain-flanked couches, ornate statues, and candles.
