In response to the overwhelming growth of local animal populations, many animal shelters with limited resources are forced to euthanize adoptable pets. As a euthanasia-free organization, the Northeast Animal Shelter seeks to prevent the destruction of adoptable pets by transporting them from overcrowded shelters with high rates of euthanasia and then providing services that increase their chances of being adopted.
For more than 30 years, the Northeast Animal Shelter has helped to match more than 100,000 dogs and cats with stable, loving forever homes. The shelter does not euthanize animals under any circumstances and facilitates adoption with services such as obedience training, grooming, restorative health care, inoculation, and spaying or neutering. In addition to taking in local animals, Northeast Animal Shelter also absorbs highly adoptable pets from overcrowded shelters in other areas including Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, California, and Puerto Rico. By transporting animals from shelters with high rates of euthanasia, the shelter helps to reduce the strain on resources in overwhelmed facilities and ensures the rescued pets will find homes without being euthanized. Though rates vary depending on the animal and location, it costs Northeast Animal Shelter an average of $150 to transport one dog out of an overcrowded environment and into its own shelter in Salem.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help Northeast Animal Shelter rescue a dog from an overwhelmed facility and match it with a permanent home. If G-Team members raise $600, the shelter will be able to transport four dogs to its Salem location. Each additional $150 will transport another dog.
