About A Chat with Northeast Pie Company

What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Our business offers fresh, handmade mini pies for breakfast, lunch and dessert, as well as local NH coffee, fresh sides, and many other hand crafted beverages. Our business stands out from the competition for one main reason: we do everything fresh and by hand. Nothing is frozen or canned or bought precooked or prepared. We source locally when possible, and take the utmost pride in the food that we provide. Our pies are baked fresh to order (7-10 minutes) with our hand-rolled dough, are sides are prepped fresh, and even our lemonade is hand squeezed and combined with our simple syrup.

What is one of your most popular offerings? How is it prepared?
Our most popular item has got to be chicken pot pie. We start by roasting and pulling whole chickens, then simmer a ton of vegetables in our homemade chicken gravy, and finally, gets baked to order in our secret dough- of course handmade.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Inspiration for my business came from studying abroad in New Zealand almost a decade ago. Mini pies are everywhere over there, and people absolutely love them. Several years after returning home, I started making them for fun, and they were better than most ones I have ever had. Family and friends starting going crazy for them, and all encouraged me to start a food truck with the pies as the main focus. Fast forward a few more years of working odd jobs and saving up money, while continuing to work on recipes, and here I am, in my second season of slinging delicious mini pies.

What do you love most about your job?
Most people who own their own business would say that it's the freedom of working for yourself, or whatever money you make going to your own pocket, not someone else's, but for me it's the satisfaction that I get when I see the reactions of people eating my pies. I grew up across the street from my Italian grandmother, and although she passed almost 15 years ago, she instilled this passion in me. She would cook all day, every day, and people (friends, family, neighbors, whoever) would always be there eating. She would never sit down when her guests were there, she would just keep cooking. I think this is the similar feeling that I have. It's not so much about the money (startup food businesses do not get you rich), it's not about the freedom (I'll be working 80 hour weeks from March until December), it's about providing people with something out of the ordinary, something incredible, something that transforms them to another realm of tastes and satisfaction, and that emotion is what is awesome for me. You can't go down the street to one of the million fast food places, and get something handmade, fresh, unique and absolutely delicious. But you can come to the NorthEast Pie Company, and that is certainly what you'll get.
