Q:

If 4 specialty courses are needed for Advanced Certification, and $129 can only apply to one - I would need to buy 4 of them. Can you confirm your Advanced Certification is $516 with a groupon? Without groupon that would be approx. $250 * 4 = $1000 based on your website.

Kamil S.  asked on  May 23, 2012

A:

There is a limit of 1 Groupon per person. For pricing on additional courses or services, please call the business at (978) 256-2300. Thanks for your interest.

Q:

Where do the open water dives take place?

Kerri D.  asked on  May 24, 2012

A:

Thanks for your question. Typically our open water sessions are conducted on Cape Ann and are shore dives. Should the class decide they would like to complete their last two dives via a boat dive our instructor can arrange the boat dive but boat fees are additional and range from 75-85/person for a 2 tank dive.

Through SSI you need 4 specialty programs and a total of 24 logged dives to achieve your Advanced Open Water Training rating.

Q:

Is the open water certification PADI?

Steven S.  asked on  May 22, 2012

A:

As stated in the Groupon ad the certification is through SSI (Scuba Schools International). They have been a certifying organization since 1970 and their certifications are recognized around the world. They are perhaps the second largest training agency behind PADI. The skills, academic materials and scuba skills are very similar from agency to agency. They all meet RSTC basic scuba standards. Please give me a call at the store tomorrow if you need more information.

I used to be certified, but I let my certification lapse years ago. Which option would be the best bet? Do you have a refresher course?

Alissa C.  asked on  May 22, 2012

A:

Thanks for the question. Certifications never expire BUT if you haven't been diving in quite a few years you have two options to get back in "scuba" shape for diving. You can opt for the Referral opr Full certifcation programs. During these programs all academic materials will be he option would be yours as to which approach you take. The Refresher course is $100.00 and includes a single pool session to review your skills. Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

Q:

Is there a minimum age requirement for the scuba class and certification. I have a 14 year old and a 15 year old interested in taking the course.

Deborah Q.  asked on  May 22, 2012

A:

Thank you for the question. Minimum age is 10 for certification. Your 14 year old would earn a Jr. Open Water Certification and upon reaching 15 will be upgraded to full Open Water.
